Internality
2025
Curated by Mira Macík
Internality at SPOT Gallery brings together a selection of Czech and Slovak artists across generations whose practices are grounded in personal testimony and a sustained engagement with introspective experience. The works address questions of identity, embodiment, relationships, sexuality, loss, and familial roots subjects that have served as enduring points of reference in the artists’ creative processes.
Rather than treating these themes as passing motifs, the participating artists employ them as authentic tools for investigating both the self and the surrounding world. The exhibition becomes a site where multiple forms of interiority encounter one another, generating unexpected, layered dialogues. Individual voices resonate in proximity, forming a concentrated whole.
The works span a variety of media from painting, drawing, and printmaking to multimedia objects and glass revealing the breadth of approaches through which internal landscapes can be articulated.
Participating artists: Radoslav Bigoš, Veronika Šrek Bromová, Lukáš Cinkanič, Andrej Dúbravský, Alžběta Krňanská, Matěj Pokorný, Phila Primus, Michaela Spružinová, Mark Ther, Jaro Varga.
